Please take the time to read all of the following very carefully. This is a collection of information that has been gathered from talking to thousands of sufferers accross the world and taking into account a wealth of research over the years. We hope that it will be of great use to you.

Antibiotics & their medical implications

Most people, when they suffer their first few episodes of cystitis, go for a medical cure - in other words, antibiotics. Initially, the antibiotics can be very effective, especially if you have never had cystitis before. However, with every additional infection, that particular antibiotic is likely to become less effective... (read more)

Are bladder infections related to bladder cancer?

There is likely to be some relationship. Bladder cancer often stems from repeated irritation of the bladder lining with harsh chemicals over time. The most common early symptom of bladder cancer is blood in the urine, but of course blood in the urine may have other causes... (read more)

Cystitis, UTIs and medicine

Despite the best efforts of medical researchers, doctors, and urologists, as most people with cystitis or repeat UTI infections have become aware of, they don't have all the answers. In some cases they don't have any real answers, because standard allopathic treatment may make matters worse. In other cases medical professionals become experts in one field or procedure, and may unintentionally favour that method of treatment, and have blind-spots to others... (read more)

D-Mannose suppliers

The following places, therapists, doctors and clinics stock D-Mannose. It's worth calling them before visiting to ensure they currently have some in stock, although most keep their stock up. You can find our mannose stockists by following the link in the UK, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, South Africa & elsewhere. E.coli

E.coli can survive in acidic environments that are lethal to other pathogens, such as in fermented foods like sausage and apple cider. It also survives and even thrives in acidic urine conditions with a PH as low as 2. Drinking cranberry juice (which acidifies the urine) when you have an E.coli bladder infection or UTI is therefore pointless and will probably do more harm than good... (read more)

E.coli & cranberry

Cranberry is often recommended for urinary tract infections, but E.coli is an acid adaptive bacterium, and is capable of synthesising its nutritional requirements from the surrounding acids in its environment. Since cranberry produces hippuric acid in the urine, thus creating acidic urine conditions, when cranberry is taken, (or tak Vit. C) it provides E.coli and other gram negative bacteria a suitable environment in which to multiply... (read more)

Easing the symptoms of cystitis & UTIs

While you are waiting for your Waterfall D-Mannose to arrive, here are some suggestions for things that may help ease the symptoms meanwhile. Personally, we have tried all of these, before the time of Waterfall D-Mannose, and they never successfully cleared an infection, but did help ease things off a bit sometimes... (read more)

Fighting cystitis & UTIs

This page is based on our own experience and information from our customers. Some of what we say here is based on our best guess of what is happening. We try to provide information that is accurate, but nothing we say here should be considered medical advice. This is for people who have explored the medical options and are looking for another way forward. Waterfall D-Mannose is an exceptionally effective alternative remedy. We are advising you how best to use that alternative remedy... (read more)

How to alkalise your urine naturally

This chart is intended only as a general guide to alkalizing and, acidifying foods. The effect of some foods may differ for some people – it depends to an extent on the enzymes that your particular set of gut bacteria produce – so it’s worth testing your urine PH a few times over a couple of days if you suspect that a food is having a different effect on you... How to cope with thrush & candida

If you've taken antibiotics to try to get rid of a bladder infection, there's a good chance that you are now infected with Candida Albicans - the fungus that causes thrush. To be more accurate, the candida that lives naturally in your body has grown out of control, and you are probably getting symptoms as a result. These often include vaginal pain, itching and swelling, white discharge, white fungal spots around the vagina, indigestion from candidiasis (leaky gut syndrome), arthritis-like symptoms, sudden weight loss or gain, tiredness, and general malaise... Men's health

Although most of this website is devoted to dealing with female UTI and cystitis problems, urinary tract problems can be just as serious in men, and sometimes just as difficult to deal with standard allopathic antibiotic treatments. And there is the additional complication in men that there can be some prostate involvement - a bladder infection in men can be the result of cross-infection from the prostate gland, and the prostate can become infected as a result of cross-infection from the urine. Or there can be epididmytis - infection of the testes or connecting tubes. The related infections can cause severe discomfort and result in continual bladder re-infection after antibiotics... New thinking about cystitis

One of the saddest things people report to us is that their doctor has 'given up on them'. Whilst we understand how upsetting it must be for the person that happens to, we also understand how frustrating it must be for the physician to get a patient who doesn't get better, despite their best efforts. That said, it shows a lack of originality in the thinking. When the allopathic approach does not work, there are two options. 1. Give up. 2. Try a different approach... (read more)

Relationships

Cystitis can be tough on relationships. Especially if the relationship is one in which a regular sex life is important. But it's similar to the way you tell a true friend from a casual friend - a true friend is always there to support you, will come when you need him/her, and will never be angry at you for being ill, gives what you need without another thought about giving, and puts you first, always... Research

Through the years there has been extensive research into the effects of D-Mannose on (in particular) E.coli. Some of the research that shows just how effective D-Mannose is at flushing away infections dates back to the 70's. But the best evidence is the evidence supplied by users... (read more)

Self-diagnosing cystitis and UTIs

There are many types of urinary tract problems that can cause cystitis or cystitis-type symptoms, and not everything can be covered here. This page is a simplified picture of the situation, to help you become aware of what your problem could be, but of course is no substitute for a thorough diagnosis by a competent and caring doctor... The allopathic approach to UTIs and cystitis

Most people reading this site are likely to be doing so because standard allopathic treatment has failed to clear up their cystitis problems. This is not an attack on the medical profession in general, but it is an attack on a lazy approach to trying to solve a problem that can only be solved by thinking 'outside the box'... (read more)

The cost of allopathic treatment

Unfortunately, doctors who do not take cystitis seriously in women, also tend not to treat it properly. But some doctors are great, and will do all the right tests, checking your infection cultures against different combinations of antibiotics to see what is the most effective antibiotic, and what is the lowest dose that is effective against your particular strain of infection... Understanding repeat infections

When you actually sit down and think about the pattern of most repeat infections, logic leads you to the same conclusions. Darwin'sSurvival of the Species through Natural Selection explains the process through higher forms of life, and E.coli survives as a life form in the same way that we have evolved as humans - by survival of the fittest... Why are some doctors unsympathetic

If they seem unsympathetic, we think it may be that bladder infection (in women) is wrongly seen by some doctors as a self-imposed illness, caused by poor personal hygiene. Sometimes, it has to be admitted, they are correct, but they are usually wrong... (read more)

Why we care

We've both had cystitis in the past. Anna had repeated episodes of cystitis, and before we found Waterfall D-Mannose™, she had been badly damaged by antibiotics. John knows what it's all about too. It's why we do what we do. So we know what you are going through, and we've suffered the same thing ourselves - the doctors' attitudes (both good and bad) and the side effects and problems caused by antibiotics...
